About Us
Who We Are
The Mountain Empire Beekeepers Association is located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Southwestern Virginia. It was created in 1980 by a small, loosely knit group of beekeepers. Those original members have grown substantially. We are headquartered in the historic town of Wytheville, Virginia where Interstates I-81 and I-77 intersect. Our membership represents multiple counties including Wythe, Carroll, Grayson, Bland, Smyth, Pulaski, and Washington.
Our Mission
The objectives of our organization are to promote and support:
- an understanding of and solutions to the common apiculture problems of the association members;
- apiculture education and the use of more productive methods of beekeeping;
- the development of both the scientific and practical aspects of apiculture;
- good relations with other organizations which share a common interest in apiculture.
Get Involved!
MEBA meets 6:30-8:30 pm on the fourth Thursday night each month, January through October Wytheville Community College at in Smyth Hall room 122. The November meeting is on the third Thursday, and there is no meeting in December.
Membership
Mountain Empire Beekeepers Association welcomes anyone who is interested in bees!
You DO NOT have to be a beekeeper to join.
